| Industry 4.0 in 2018 InterMach Thailand | | | | On May 14 to 18 2018, TBB Oversales BD team went to Bangkok, Thailand for the INTERMACH /SUBCON /MTA show and local clients visit. These years Thailand keeps its ranking among the top 15 in the lagest importer of Chinese bearing, in 2016 total trade value up to US$123,640,529 (reported by Un Comtrade). Apart from this, more and more famous international enterprises choose to set up facilities in Thailand due to its low cost level and convenient transportation. Thailand industry is growing rapidly. Through this trip TBB hoped to seek more business opportunities, and strengthen collaboration relationship with current customers. | | | | INTERMACH is the ASEAN’s largest industrial machinery & subcontracting exhibition in BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand. What impressed us most in the show is the coming of Industry 4.0 era. Industrial 4.0 is upon us now, which makes many manufacturing companies facing the challenge of production increasing problem. This calls for smart manufacturing and full automation, or we can say “Smart Factory”. | | | | | Industry 4.0 will affect us in many areas. One of the main impacts of Industry 4.0 is data collection. Machine tools will have sensors that will collect many different kinds of data, including data on how much the machine has operated, the conditions it has operated in and the condition of the components of the tool. By collecting this data, machines could estimate when a component needs to be replaced. Let’s take bearing as an example, the system would alert operators to replace a bearing that has experienced a heavier load and more frequent use sooner than a less used bearing. This predictive maintenance could keep machines running more efficiently and prevent downtime. “We can detect that a bearing in the field is reaching the end of its life, then start producing a replacement,” said Craig Hooker, director of Schaeffler’s North American production machinery business unit. “So rather than waiting for the bearing to fail and then going through the whole production process, we can ship the new bearing to the customer when it’s needed.” By comparing data of individual components, we can quickly recognize and correct deviations in the production process. Other possible benefits of the data collection and analysis made possible by Industrial 4.0 include: Greater machining precision; Process optimization and Improved maintenance. It also affects us in automation and advanced logistics fields. Such as collaborative robots to perform high repetitive operations; Automated Guided Vehicles(AGV) to improve logistics; Conveyor belts to improve material flow, etc. Thus, high quality and short delivery time at a competitive price are much more needed than ever. | | | | | |
