China will soon launch a new round of central environmental inspections covering eight provincial-level areas. A total of eight inspection team will start month-long on-site investigations into local government work, including regions of Jilin, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hainan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Tibet & Xinjiang as part of the fourth round of environmental inspections, where many of the factories and suppliers locate.

In the largest national-level inspection record, more than two dozen cites will face a strict one-year inspection, about 10,000 polluting companies were ordered to suspend production or shut down. It influences seriously the rubber and plastics manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, coating and spraying, plywood, packaging and printing industries around the country.

Environmental inspection has cause great impact on iron ore prices. Production in some mines, processing plants and mills are being disrupted. With benchmark Chinese steel prices having hit their highest in 4 and 1/2 years this past week. Coal prices have been posting double-digit percentage gains the last few months-rocketing about $90 per tonne in recent weeks. The whole supply chain has been affected.

The government should show zero tolerance toward polluting factories and companies, but this does not mean a blanket policy of ruthless shut downs, because this will harm the companies and the economy. Instead, the government should help polluters to improve their systems.” said by Ma Jun, director of the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs. China's green economy, involving environmental protection and energy conservation, has reached 1.6 trillion yuan, which is expected to double by 2020. Environmental protection can also bring new opportunities for economic growth.
